What do you do with your friends’ wedding invitation?

I am getting married in 3 months and we are planning to send our wedding invitation digitally. It’s a no-brainer for both my fiance and I simply because we can create a very unique and personalized invitation while save on paper and printing cost.

While researching for a classy chic e invitation sites, I came across some articles about people sending out digital wedding invitations. Some even send wedding invitations via Facebook. It seems that some people think that sending a digital invitation for a wedding is not appropriate, cheap, rude.. On the other hand, evite has reported that more than 1.2 million people sent digital wedding invitations in the last 12 months, which is an increase of 60%.

Having received 2 traditional paper wedding invitations this summer, I found myself challenged with finding a home for these invitations. Should it be stored in the box with my memorable Birthday or Christmas cards? Should I leave it on my dresser as a reminder of the wonderful time I had sharing a special moment with a very good friend? As I move the invitations from my desk to my dresser, the back to my desk, I feel quilty throwing them away, so I stored it in that little card box.

This percisely is what I do not want our guests to do with our wedding invitation. Therefore, we are going green and sending e.wedding invitations. Since we are having a destination wedding, we can also leverage the technology for updates and other details that the traditional invitations do not typically include.

I will keep you posted as I search for my classy chic e.wedding invitation.

Invitations are the first thing the guests will see often introducing one of the couple for the very first time. They should set the tone – but at this point in time, because we are in transition from paper to digital, they should include the written invitation as well. A good digital or DVD invitation should not be an after thought or cheap. It opens up the senses (hearing, touch & sight) making the invitation a vital part of the wedding introduction. Adding, pictures, video and music to a written invitation leaves guests emotionally charged 6 weeks before the big event. In-fact, invitations are about the wedding. Make sure to include both a written RSVP with postage and a digital link for tech savvy guests! It should be well thought out, produced and balanced just like everything else at the wedding. Your guests will love it because people are looking for new and creative ways to express their feelings and entertain. So a digital or DVD Invitation format would make sense while combining creativity without losing a sense of respect for traditional.
