They should set the tone - but at this point in time, because we are in transition from paper to digital, they should include the written invitation as well. A good digital or DVD invitation should not be an after thought or cheap. It opens up the senses (hearing, touch & sight) making the invitation a vital part of the wedding introduction. Adding, pictures, video and music to a written invitation leaves guests emotionally charged 6 weeks before the big event. In-fact, invitations are about the wedding. Make sure to include both a written RSVP with postage and a digital link for tech savvy guests! It should be well thought out, produced and balanced just like everything else at the wedding. Your guests will love it because people are looking for new and creative ways to express their feelings and entertain. So a digital or DVD Invitation format would make sense while combining creativity without losing a sense of respect for traditional.
